Acupuncture & Cosmetic Facial Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a key component of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that has been practiced for over 3,000 years. It involves the insertion of very fine needles into specific points on the body, known as acupuncture points or meridians. These points are believed to correspond to various organs and systems, helping to balance the flow of Qi (pronounced "chee"), the vital life force that sustains health and vitality.
How Does It Work?
According to TCM principles, the body's energy, or Qi, flows through pathways called meridians. Disruptions or imbalances in this flow can lead to physical and emotional issues. By stimulating specific acupuncture points, practitioners aim to restore the natural flow of Qi, promoting healing and overall well-being.
Cosmetic Facial Acupuncture is used to treat cosmetic concerns of fine lines and wrinkles. A minimum of 4 weekly appointments is recommended to see the best results (once/week for 4 weeks)
Osteopathic Manual Practitioner
“A natural medicine which aims to restore function in the body by treating the causes of pain and imbalance. To achieve this goal the Osteopathic Manual Practitioner relies on the quality and finesse of their palpation and works with the vitality, position, mobility and quality of the tissues.”
Osteopathy is a complementary healthcare practice that emphasizes the role of the musculoskeletal system in maintaining overall health and wellbeing. Osteopathy is based on the principle that the body has a natural ability to heal, and that this process can be facilitated by removing any obstructions or restrictions to the body's natural movement and function.
Osteopaths use a combination of manual therapy, including joint mobilization, soft tissue massage, and stretching, to identify and treat restrictions in the body. They may also provide advice on lifestyle factors, such as exercise, to support the body's natural healing processes.
Osteopathy is used to treat a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, including back pain, neck pain, joint pain, and sports injuries. It may also be used to treat other health conditions, such as digestive problems, respiratory conditions, and headaches.
Osteopathy is considered safe and is practiced by qualified healthcare professionals known as Osteopathic Manual Practitioners. They undergo extensive training in anatomy, physiology, and pathology, as well as specialized training in osteopathic techniques.
Osteopathy (Current Study)
Kiera and Antonietta are at the Sutherland-Chan School of Osteopathy (formerly Canadian College of Osteopathy). Osteopathic techniques are integrated into treatment when appropriate including cranial sacral, joint mobilizations, and visceral to name a few. Services in this category are able to be billed under Registered Massage Therapy as these techniques fall under both scopes of practice.
Chiropractic
Safe, natural and effective, the word Chiropractic comes from ancient Greek and means “done by hand”. It is a philosophy, a science and an art that concerns itself with the restoration of good health by maintaining a properly functioning nervous system.
Covered by most health insurance providers, Chiropractic is a regulated primary health care profession and involves the assessment, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of conditions related to the nervous system, the spine (“home” of the central nervous system) and the joints of the body. The standards of care are based upon established scientific, empirical and clinical evidence. Chiropractors are thoroughly trained to assess whether a patient is a suitable candidate for Chiropractic and they do not hesitate to adapt their approach accordingly or refer out if necessary. Dr Claire may recommend x-rays if needed in order to assist with diagnosis.
Dr. Claire provides compassionate care and is respectful of the feelings and boundaries of her clients. She emphasizes that an effective treatment may occur without the use of typical mechanical joint adjustments. She is dedicated to empowering her clients to take their vibrant health into their own hands.
Prenatal Massage Therapy
Massage therapy is a great supportive treatment during your pregnancy journey. After taking specific prenatal massage training and by using particular body positioning and techniques, Kiera is able to address specific issues that come with being pregnant as well as postpartum recovery. For your comfort, Kiera generally uses a side lying treatment approach during her prenatal sessions.

Through her unique holistic approach, she helps clients release emotional and energetic patterns that profoundly affect their well-being. Postural Integration®
Claire is a Postural Integration® facilitator, accredited through the International Council of Psycho-Corporal (Body-Mind) Integration Trainers (ICPIT).
Postural Integration® is a structured framework of transformative Body-Mind work which assists the individual through a direct hands-on deep softening and reorganization of the connective tissue (fascia) which envelops and coordinates the entire muscular system.
This unique and revolutionary approach not only assists the release of deep and chronic muscular tension, helping us master our body, but also helps to harmonize our unbalanced or "armoured" emotions and thoughts, our restricted breathing and our energy flow. In this way, we begin to become more attuned to our spiritual destiny, autonomy and humanity.
The remarkable effectiveness of this self-development process is attributed to the multiple components of a PI® session including: body-awareness and gestalt therapy; connective tissue (myofascial) release; energetic release; and integration through breath, sound and expressive movement.
PI® is non-regulated and is not yet recognized by health insurance companies in Canada.
Reiki
Reiki is a very gentle treatment that focuses on a holistic approach to client healing. During a Reiki treatment, the practitioner places their hands gently on or near energy centers of the client, promoting the movement of energy throughout the body. Balancing these energy centers, known as chakras, facilitates physical, mental, and emotional healing in the client. After treatment, clients often report reduced stress and bodily tension, improved sleep, accelerated injury recovery, reduced anxiety, improved mood, increased energy and more. Reiki is considered a complementary approach to wellness and healing and does not replace medical intervention.
